Jennifer Lopez shares emotional thank you video after Golden Globe nomination as she endorses fan’s Hustlers stunt

Jennifer Lopez posted a heartfelt message of thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association after receiving her second Golden Globe nomination.

The star, 50, was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture category for her role as Ramona in Lorene Scafaria’s Hustlers.

In a video shared on Twitter, Lopez described the nod as an “incredible honour” and said she felt “humbled and so excited to be recognised for this role.”

“Hi guys, I’m just waking up and I just heard that I got nominated for Best Supporting Actress for a Golden Globe,” she said.

“Oh my god, it’s been 20 years since I was nominated for Selena. I just want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this incredible honour, I am humbled and so excited to be recognised for this role as Ramona in Hustlers.

“Thank you so much and I’ll see you at the Globes.”

In a message posted alongside the video, she said she “could not be prouder” of the achievement and praised the women behind and in front of the camera.

“Hustlers was a labour of love, sweat and perseverance written, directed, produced, edited and starring a group of bad-ass women,” she wrote.

“I am proud and honoured to represent them and this film!!!”

Lopez previously received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Selena in 1998.

Shortly afterwards, the star threw her backing behind a fan’s hilarious stunt in support of her recent nomination.

Writer Joseph Longo revealed on Twitter how he had asked the team on a JetBlue flight from New York to Los Angeles to make an announcement encouraging passengers to watch Hustlers on the plane to celebrate Lopez’s achievement.

He then shared a video of the “special request” being read out over the plane’s tannoy system, writing: “A @JetBlue pilot read my plea that passengers watch Hustlers in honour of @JLo’s #GoldenGlobes nom.

“I called myself The Backup JLo, but I guess I’m her backup dancer. The friendly skies supports our Fly Girl!”

Lopez then re-shared his post, describing it as “amazing.”

“You can be my backup dancer any day,” she wrote. “THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT!”

The actress and singer will compete in the Best Supporting Actress category against Kathy Bates (nominated for Richard Jewell), Annette Bening (The Report), Laura Dern (Marriage Story) and Margot Robbie (Bombshell).
