Jennifer Lopez admits she was gutted like the rest of us when she didn’t get an Oscar nomination for her role in Hustlers, and felt like she’d ‘let everybody down’.

The 50-year-old was hotly-tipped to score a supporting actress nod at the Academy Awards this year for her critically-acclaimed performance as stripper Ramona in Hustlers.

So it came as a huge surprise – and one of the biggest snubs – when Jennifer failed to receive recognition

And it seems J.Lo was just as disappointed as her fans.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey at the media mogul’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour on Saturday, Jennifer explained: ‘I was sad, I was a little sad because there was a lot of buildup to it.

‘There were so many articles, I got so many good notices – more than ever in my career – and there was a lot of: “She’s going to get nominated for an Oscar, it’s going to happen, if it doesn’t you’re crazy”.’

Basically, we all got Jen’s hopes up.

The Love Don’t Cost A Thing singer continued: ‘I’m reading all the articles going: “Oh my god, could this happen?” And then it didn’t and I was like: “Ouch,” it was a little bit of a letdown.

‘Also I felt like my whole team – most of my team has been with me for years, 20, 25 years – and I think they had a lot of hopes on that and they wanted it too, so I felt like I let everyone down a little bit.’

Jennifer did receive a slew of other nominations for Hustlers, including a Golden Globe nod, but missed out on the big awards. However, she did scoop the best supporting actress gong at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards.

Hustlers also starred Constance Wu in the lead role as New York stripper Destiny, and told the story of how the dancers scammed wealthy Wall Street Bankers for their money by drugging them.

While the Oscars failed to appreciate Jennifer’s performance in Hustlers, one person who did was her former fiance Ben Affleck.

Speaking highly of his ex, Ben told the New York Times: ‘She’s the real thing.

‘I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her. How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That’s f**king baller.’

The Good Will Hunting star added that Jenny ‘should have been nominated’ for an Oscar for her role in Oscars.

The man speaks sense.

Jennifer will next be seen in romantic comedy Marry Me alongside Owen Wilson and, in real life, is also preparing her wedding to fiance Alex Rodriguez.
