Jennifer Aniston has actually been on Instagram for ages and nobody knew until now

Jennifer Aniston may have pretty much broken the internet when she finally joined Instagram this week – but it turns out the Friends star has had an account for ages.

The actor, 50, racked up over 11.5 million followers in one day after making her debut on the social media platform with a photo of her and the rest of the Friends cast, but has now admitted she’s been using the site for a while.

Jen admitted to Jimmy Kimmel that she’s been lurking on the site with a fake profile for ages, in order to get used to how it all works before making her debut.

She explained: ‘It was a stalker account, yes. When I was thinking about doing this I figured it was time to kind of understand the world [of Instagram] and dip my toe into the social media pool.’

Her debut on Instagram actually broke Guinness World Records, beating even Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s account for racking up a million followers in just five hours and 16 minutes.

Jennifer admitted that the reason she decided to finally succumb to the ‘Gram is that people kept asking her to create an account so she finally gave in.

She explained: ‘I’m like the most reluctant person to join Instagram. What you resist, persists so what the hey, just do it.

‘I’m just trying to build content as they say. I’m going to try to be really good about it.’

Jen also admitted she panicked when she realised she would have to post more than just her record-breaking first image: ‘After yesterday, I was like “I have to do more now I guess?!” This is now a big thing.’

Her second post was almost as epic as the first, showing her smashing her phone after her first photo crashed her account as so many people tried to click on her profile.

We can’t wait to see what she’s got for us next.
