Jennifer Aniston gushed that ‘Friends was lightning in a bottle’ as she claimed the case went from being ‘friends to a family’.

The actress, 50, made the remark while speaking at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s 4th Annual Patron of the Artists Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, where she was honoured for her philanthropy.

Praising the hit TV show, which aired from 1994 to 2004, she said: ‘Friends was lightning in a bottle… I don’t mean the ratings.

‘It was a very rare environment where there was truly no competition, no egos, we were just six relatively unknown actors learning on the job together and thanking our lucky stars to be on this rocket ship of a show.’

Going on to discuss what it was like on the show, Jennifer added: ‘We went from Friends to a family.

‘That experience set the bar for the rest of my career and it taught me to surround myself with supportive people who make me better. Not only a better actor but a better person.’

And Jennifer enjoyed a Friends reunion at the event, as she was joined on the red carpet by her former co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow.
