Jennifer Aniston has made a $1million (£790,000) donation to an anti-racism charity in honour of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Friends star made the sizeable donation to the Color Of Change charity, to show her support for Black Lives Matter in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

George Floyd died during his arrest when a police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes as he told them he couldn’t breathe.

A source said Jennifer wanted to help fight the injustice black people continue to face, telling the Sunday Mirror: ‘Like most people, Jen has been deeply affected by what is going on in America and the terrible injustice that people of colour experience every day.

‘She wanted to show her support, and has donated a big sum to the charity she felt resonated with her the most. The link is on her Instagram page so her fans can also donate.’

Jennifer had opened up about how heartbroken she had been and how important it was for everyone to demand justice.

She wrote: ‘This week has been heartbreaking for so many reasons. We need to acknowledge that the racism and brutality in this country has been going on for a long time – and it’s NEVER been okay.

‘As allies, who want equality and peace, it’s our responsibility to make noise, to demand justice, to educate ourselves on these issues, and more than anything, to spread love.

‘How much more time are we willing to let pass without change? HOW MUCH MORE TIME?’

Jennifer was one of many stars who have spoken out against the inequality black people still face in 2020.

Several have also joined marches, including Madonna who was spotted at the Black Lives Matter protest in London, despite being on crutches from a knee injury.
