Jenna Dewan may have announced her engagement a month before she was due to give birth, but she says parenthood is taking priority over her wedding plans.
The Step Up star, 39, welcomed newborn son Callum with fiance Steve Kazee, earlier this month and she says the couple are preoccupied with ‘soaking up this gorgeous newborn’ so wedding plans are taking a backseat.
He is very cute, so they are forgiven.
Speaking to People, Jenna explained that Callum right now is her and Steve’s priority.
She said: ‘We have not started any [wedding] planning yet. Right now, we’re enjoying our new life of parenthood and soaking up this gorgeous newborn.
‘We’ll get there when we get there.’
Jenna also touched on how she is finding life at home amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen many countries including the UK and US put in place lockdown measures to try and control the spread of the flu-like infection.
People are being advised to stay at home and to only head out for essentials, but Jenna says such restrictions haven’t really changed anything for her.
‘I was planning to nest at home and spend time and really good quality time with our new baby, so not much of that has changed. The difference is we’re not having any visitors.’
Jenna introduced newborn son Callum to fans via Instagram just days after he was born on 6 March. She shared a sweet black and white photo of her cradling her baby boy while laying in her hospital bed.
Steve, meanwhile, explained the sentimental value behind Callum’s name – his full name is Callum Michael Rebel Kazee – and said that ‘Rebel’ comes from his mum Reba.
He said: ‘I wanted a way to honour my mother. Her name was Reba but from a very young age her father called her Rebel.’
Jenna is also mum to daughter Everly, six, whom she shares with ex-husband Channing Tatum.
She and Channing split after nine years of marriage in April 2018 and their divorce was finalised in January, earlier this year.
Jenna and Steve have been dating since October 2018. They announced their engagement in February.
