Jeff Brazier recalls heartbreaking moment he told sons that Jade Goody had cancer

Jeff Brazier has recalled the heartbreaking moment he told his two young sons that their mother Jade Goody had cervical cancer.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum Happy Baby , Jeff, 39, spoke honestly about the moment he accepted the mother of his children was going to die.

The reality star lost her battle with cervical cancer on Mother’s Day in 2009 and Jeff recalled the difficult moment he told sons Bobby and Freddie, who were five and four at the time.

Jeff took the decision to speak to the boys about Jade’s illness a week before she passed away and he said it was “the hardest moment” of his life.

He also praised Jade for her strength in her last days and how that helped the boys come to terms with the terminal nature of her illness.

Jeff revealed: “The fact that [Jade] had the strength and took the responsibility to tell them, it gave them a chance to be able to start processing in that particular moment even though they went into the play room and carried on.

“It was just the right thing to do. It was love, it was her loving them enough to say I’m going to say the hardest thing that’s ever going to pass my lips.”

Jeff continued: “For her to say ‘Jeff I’m gonna tell them, I don’t want you to be in the room and I’ll send them out just look after them as soon as they come out of the room,’ it was like I was there ready to catch them.”

Recalling the emotions of that day, Jeff said: “It’s the hardest moment of my life probably, why wouldn’t it be, poor boys, we did it for the boys.”

Despite Jeff and Jade’s relationship coming to an end, he said they always ensured the boys came first.

Jeff continued: “It was always out priority, we wanted to do everything right for the kids and that was the case right up until the moment, and it didn’t stop at that point.

“That’s when the boys really needed us to be on each other’s side and we were.”

This helped make the decision to not bring the boys to the funeral and to keep them out of the spotlight, instead taking them to Adelaide in Australia.

Jeff and Jade’s relationship came to an end after two years together and Jade went on to meet Jack Tweed, who she married just a month before passing away, aged just 27.
