This week marks 10 years since the reality star Jade Goody passed away from cervical cancer.

And while her family and friends mourn, her two sons Bobby, 15, and Freddie, 14, are trying to spread some light by fundraising in their mum’s name.

Announcing the news on Twitter, their dad and Jade’s former beau Jeff Brazier told his followers about their event and encouraged them to donate.

The boys will be raising money for both Marie Curie and the Great Ormond Street Hospital, and will be holding a family affair to mark the occasion.

Announcing the news to his 479,000 followers, the proud dad wrote: ‘Staggeringly, it’s been 10 years my children have had to do without the most important person in their life.

‘To their absolute credit, they want to mark the occasion remembering their Mum by raising money for charity at their private quiz night amongst family and friends.’

Explaining why they decided to chose the two charities, the 39-year-old added: ‘They have personally chosen @mariecurieuk because of how fantastic they have heard the nurses were in caring for their Mum in her final days.

‘They have also elected to support @GOSHCharity on this occasion for their work with the bravest of children too.’

The father-of-two continued: ‘Your support offers more than a wonderful donation. It grants the encouragement to know they are being brave and that their efforts are seen.

‘It tells them they are not alone in their grief and that others, friends they are yet to meet are keeping an eye on their journey.’

Jeff then went to thank his fans for donating, and revealed that he is keen for them to ‘remember joyfully.’

He shared: ‘Its all I’ve ever wanted to encourage and they both look forward to creating an evening that their Mum would have so loved to have been at the heart of.

‘This for us is how you truly pay respect.’

In another tweet, Jeff shared a link to the fundraising page, and wrote: ‘Thank you for even thinking of donating to my children’s fundraising efforts.’

Jeff and Jade started dating in 2002, and went on to have their boys before calling off their relationship two years later.

Since then, he has moved on with Kate Dwyer who he tied the knot with in September last year.

Alongside a throwback photo from their big day, Kate wrote about the boys’ speech and what it’s like being a step-mum.

She said: ‘Because all my #tbts are wedding ones. There are good days and bad days and in all honesty I am still learning to be better every single day of this #stepmum journey.

‘But, this was without a doubt the single most special moment of my life with these boys so far.’

The 29-year-old added: ‘The only opinions that matters are theirs and to see them stand up and tell everyone that I am getting it right (most of the time) was nothing short of life affirming for me.

‘What an absolute honour.’
