Jar of Jeremy Corbyn's jam sells for £400 at charity fundraiser

A jar of jam made by Jeremy Corbyn sold for £400 at auction last night.

The outgoing Labour leader donated the preserve to help raise money for Action for Children and Restless Development as part of a fundraising evening.

The auction lot was donated by the Labour leader and his former press secretary James Schneider.

It’s description read: “Homemade with produce fresh from his own allotment, this jar of jam comes straight from the hands of Jeremy Corbyn -Labour Party leader and long-running member of parliament.”

It continued: “An incredibly rare thing to own, and to eat, this will certainly be a talking point at your next dinner party. Get your hands on the only piece of political memorabilia you can spread on toast.”

The winning bid of £400 was made by This Morning editor Martin Frizzell who is married to TV presenter Fiona Phillips at the Ultimate News Quiz.

He loves jam – and donated some to the auction (This picture also shows him looking at jams that are not his own)

It is not clear what type of jam Mr Corbyn provided.

One round at the fundraising quiz was named “Johnson and Johnson” – and was presented by former Labour Home Secretary Alan Johnson and the Prime Minister’s sister Rachel.
