Janey Godley savagely hits back at troll who branded her 'ugly'

Scots comedian  Janey Godley  has taken to Twitter to hit back online troll who said she was ‘ugly’ and ‘horrific to watch’ with a hilarious come back.

The 59-year-old has been entertaining the nation with some much needed light-hearted relief during the coronavirus pandemic with her Nicola Sturgeon daily briefing sketches, but not everyone has been singing her praises.

Last night Janey, from  Glasgow, replied to one of the horrible messages from an account under the name ‘Bluebell Mill’.

The tweet said: “Your horrific to watch. Ugly. A stain on the good nature of Scotland. Grenade thrower who wants an ugly angry Scotland. Bet your followers think you are funny. Bet you have defenders who think your sticking up for something. Your just seller yourself though, and I can SEE you.”

They added: “Imagine ruining a quite good BBC drama by putting Pathetic person Godley in the storyline. Couldn’t hear a word when THAT appeared, as all her previous bile, hatred and Spite wasted everyone elses performances.”

Janey initially replied to the tweet correcting the use of ‘you’re’ before sharing the tweet and publicly replying: “Thanks, I now work with the National Theatre and won best actress this year at Scottish Short Film awards – suck it up Bunty.”

And Janey’s followers were quick to back her.

One said: “We love you Janey, keep doing the great work you are doing and don’t mind these people. What a miserable and full of hate life they must have.”

Another added: “Reported them and wow, they seem pretty obsessed with you!”

And one wrote: “Lmfao! Janey Godley is my spirit animal!”

Another penned: “When you say “bile, hatred and spite”, have you looked at your own posts? Calling JG “that” – as if she’s an object not a human being – and “pathetic person” is hardly an example of the opposite of “bile, hatred and spite” now is it? #potkettle.”

This is not the first time the comedian has been targeted by trolls.

Just last month, she was branded a ‘two-faced hypocritical witch’.

The troll, under the name Michael, wrote: “@JaneyGodley and @scotnight having a dig about Dominic and Daft Janey going on about not having 2 rules.

“What about Margaret Ferrier you hypocritical two faced witch!!”

He then went on to write: “Janey is a woman? I thought she was a man in drag. If someone had said that to my wife I would ask them how did they know her.”

Following her appearance on Scotland Tonight, Janey responded to Michael by saying: “Michael, my husband loves me, my daughter loves me – please keep coming at me, it means your leaving another women alone.

“Stay safe and be happy and have a safe Christmas. I hope your daughter or wife NEVER meets a man like you online.”
