Janet Jackson has opened about her struggles as a single working mother.
The 53-year-old pop icon gave birth to her first child, Eissa Al Mana, in April 2017 but has now admitted that playing to adoring fans while parenting a two-year-old son hadn’t been easy.
‘It is hard being a working mother,’ Janet opened up.
‘I don’t have a nanny, I do it all myself.’
The Control singer, who headlined Glastonbury Festival in June, revealed that while she had support from her ex-boyfriend, record producer Wissam Al Mana, the bulk of the parenting was done herself.
‘Of course, when I’m working someone watches him, but it’s my baby and me,’ Janet added, speaking to Australia’s Stellar magazine.
The five-time Grammy Award winner may have released 11 studio albums in a career spanning four decades, but Janet admitted that even at 53, fame is still hard to handle.
‘You really have to be thick-skinned for this,’ she told the publication.
‘You can really go in the wrong direction, there’s so much temptation, all kinds of crazy things.’
Despite being a mum to a two-year-old child, Janet still looks in incredible shape and is noted for her high energy levels when she performs.

Metro.co.uk caught up with the pop star’s personal trainer Paulette Sybliss to reveal how Janet snapped back so soon after her pregnancy.
‘Janet is a very focused woman,’ Paulette explained, ‘her mindset from the start was “let’s do this” and it never changed.
‘The sessions were hard, there were days I knew she was tired from the previous session but she showed up and always gave me 100%.
‘Being a new mum came with challenges but Janet had all angles covered and we worked her sessions around her day so this was never an issue.’
