Jane McDonald rules out going on I’m A Celebrity because she’d struggle without make-up and hairdryer

Jane McDonald might have been the surprise star of this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here but the Cruising sensation has told us we’ll never see her in the jungle in a future series.

This year’s campmate Adele Roberts – who became the first of the group to be evicted on Friday’s show – took a photo of Jane into the jungle as her luxury item, crediting the singer with making her happy.

While Jane is ‘thrilled’ to have been included in the ITV hit show in this way, she doesn’t fancy taking on the Bushtucker Trials herself, telling Metro.co.uk: ‘Oh gosh, no. It’s not for me.

‘I like my creature comforts. Literally creature comforts in there! But no, I’m very, very fond of my hair dryer and I’m not good without makeup. I mean no, it’s not a good look!

‘And it’s on for so long and my schedule doesn’t allow me that much time off.’

Jane became the unexpected star of this year’s show despite never setting foot in the camp as superfan Adele brought in a framed photo of her to cheer her up if she was feeling down.

The former Loose Women star was over the moon about Adele choosing her to be the luxury item – and enjoyed her cameo on the show even more because she looked like her glamorous self!

She explained: ‘I was gobsmacked! I was filming Jane And Friends at the time and I had about 15 missed calls and WhatsApp going off, my phone was just going “ding, ding, ding!” I was thinking what the heck is going on here?

‘And then I just couldn’t believe that Adele Roberts from Radio 1 [choose her as the luxury item]. I was really shocked, I’m absolutely thrilled.

‘I’m absolutely thrilled that I was in the jungle but I look brilliant because I’m fully made up and I’ve got a posh frock on!’

Jane also revealed that she doesn’t use social media much in order to avoid the trolls (PSA – anyone who’s trolling national treasure Jane McDonald needs to have a word with themselves, sharpish) so she doesn’t always realise who’s a fan of her show.

She explained: ‘I just think blimey, when you’re on the telly you just don’t know who’s looking or watching or who likes you or doesn’t.

‘And I tend to put myself in a little bubble really, I don’t look at Twitter and I don’t look at Facebook because it’s always that one comment you look at thinking “Oh blimey, what have I done!” There can be hundreds of likes but it’s just that one that you focus on, so I don’t tend to do that.

‘So when somebody like Adele Roberts, God love her, takes a picture of me to make her feel better, what an accolade and what a thrill and what an honour it is to have someone think of you that way.’

Now that Adele is out of the jungle, Jane will definitely be trying to meet up with her number one fan, telling us: ‘Oh gosh, without a doubt!

‘I think it’d be lovely for me to actually just say thank you for all this, I’ve got kids stopping me in the street now saying “do you know you’re on the jungle?”’

Cruising With Jane McDonald is on Channel 5 on Fridays from 9pm.
