‘So, you see this coat?’ Fonda said last Friday during another rally. ‘I needed something red and I went out and found this coat on sale. This is the last article of clothing that I will ever buy.’
Fonda has been one of the many people at the forefront of Fire Drill Fridays, a weekly protest on Capitol Hill which draws attention to climate change; she committed to getting arrested at every protest.
‘There is a collective crisis, requires collective action,’ she told CNN. ‘And so I decided to use my celebrity to try to raise the sense of urgency, and I moved to Washington, and I’m going to get arrested every Friday.’
