Jamie Laing throws his hat in the ring for I’m A Celeb and Dancing On Ice after Strictly exit

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jamie Laing has opened up about the injury that caused him to pull out of the show – while teasing possible appearances on Dancing On Ice and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Appearing on This Morning, Laing did not rule out appearing on other reality shows, after being forced to drop out of the BBC programme before it had properly begun.

Explaining that his foot is expected to heal in eight weeks, he turned his attention to the two ITV programmes.

Asked by co-presenter Phillip Schofield whether he could skate, he replied: “Can I skate? Hey, there we go. Ready for it. Oh, the jungle, let me do all of them. Just one to the next.”

Made In Chelsea star also Laing also recalled the moment he realised he had injured his foot while filming Saturday’s launch show.

He explained that he already had a foot disorder called Plantar Fasciitis, which was exacerbated while training for the first group dance number.

He said: “I slid into the wonderful Oti [Mabuse] and popped up in the air like a jack in the box. It felt like someone had hit me on the back of the foot with a belt. It’s like stepping on glass.

“I grabbed Oti and said: ‘Oti, something has happened in my foot’. And she just went: ‘Dance!’

“With those dancers they go through pains and struggles the entire time. Being British, you just smile and just go through the entire thing,” he continued. “You can see I am not quite entirely here. That’s me at 10% so imagine me at 100%.”

Laing was replaced by Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, who will make his Strictly debut in the first live show of the series on September 21.

Fletcher will be paired with professional dancer Oti Mabuse, who has already put him to task during their recent rehearsals.

Speaking in a frank social media video on Wednesday, Fletcher confessed: “The warm up this morning, I was tired after the warm up.

“We hadn’t even started dancing and I was like, ‘I can’t go anymore.'”

In the post, Mabuse revealed they were still in the dance studio at 9.30pm.

Mabuse then giggled as Fletcher complained about a simple stretch.

Flecther said: “Well a stretch, whatever it was, I was shattered. That’s one thing I need to work on, my flexibility.

“I’m not mobile enough, am I? I was getting into positions and you were like, ‘Stretch more, Kelvin.’

Fletcher joins fellow soap stars Catherine Tyldesley, formerly of Coronation Street, and Emma Barton, from EastEnders, on the star-studded roster.
