And the Fifty Shades of Grey star loved Caitriona’s performance so much that he says he would happily work for the rest of his life with her.
Jamie was chatting with Gold Derby when he revealed: “It was like a meeting of minds. We were just really in tune we were just aligned. She’s just a brilliant girl and a phenomenal actress. I’d actually never seen her. I’d seen a bit of Ford versus Ferrari.
“I’ve never seen Outlander so my take on Caitriona Balfe being a good actor is Belfast.
“Getting to watch her every day and, if this is all I have, I think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation.”
“She’s just so brilliant in this film. She owns it . If I could do every job I have with Caitriona Balfe I’d be a very happy boy.”
The high praise from Jamie comes as Caitriona herself paid tribute to her mother and what she went through during her own upbringing in Belfast.
Caitriona, who plays the role of Ma in the film Belfast, said: “I think I value so highly what my mum went through, and how strong she is, and how she raised all of us.
“My dad was really busy on the border, for years he was working insane hours. And my mum was the one who held down the fort, and she cooked every meal, she did all the cleaning, she washed every nappy by hand for years.
“I am in so much awe, now especially, because I understand how bloody difficult it is to look after a kid.
