James Rodriguez makes Premier League transfer decision as he nears Real Madrid exit

James Rodriguez does not want to move to the Premier League this summer.

Real Madrid star Rodriguez has been heavily linked with a transfer away from the Bernabeu during this window – having spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

Liverpool , Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked with a swoop for the Colombian this summer, while Paris Saint-Germain, the French giants, are also keeping tabs on his situation.

But despite Real keen to sell Rodriguez, the 27-year-old has ruled out a move to the Premier League, with Marca claiming he is “unwilling to go to England.”

Instead the report says Rodriguez is most likely to end up in Serie A.

Champions Juventus have been strong mooted in the past, but it appears that Napoli have jumped to the top of the queue.

Napoli, who finished second in the Italian league this season, are managed by Carlo Ancelotti – who coached Rodriguez at Real.

They are said to have submitted a bid, although it fell short of Real’s valuation – with the Spanish giants keen to make a sizeable profit this summer.

Rodriguez is unlikely to return to Bayern

It seems unlikely that Rodriguez will return to Bayern for a third campaign, having played 28 times this season.

Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed the club would sit down with Rodriguez next week but hinted the club wouldn’t be prepared to splash a fee on him.

“We will sit down next week and decide what we are going to do,” Rummenigge said.

“[Buying him to sell him for a profit] is not the Bayern way. We don’t want to do human trafficking, to push something elsewhere to make some money. Bayern have never done anything of the sort and we never will.”
