James Martin’s initial book title was turned down in favour of more 'woke' option

James Martin, 49, has opened up about his new book Butter in a new interview and what he wanted to originally call it. The presenter is known for his ITV show James Martin’s Saturday Morning.

James is at the forthright of most topics from Brexit to butter, weightloss to talking about his beloved Yorkshire.

Talking in a recent interview with Daily Mail weekend, James admitted that the title of his new book was not what he wanted at first and was “boffed off” for a more woke option.

He said: “Fat – that’s what I wanted to call it – and they said, ‘Mmm, maybe not…’.

“But the next one will be called Fat.”

His latest, Butter, was already on its second reprint the week before publication, and he recently announced that he is joining the relaunch of SpudULike, the jacket potato chain which had 37 outlets when it collapsed in 2019.

Previously James presented Saturday Kitchen from 2006 until 2016, before leaving the BBC.

Over the years, James Martin has cited several reasons for his relatively sudden departure.

In part, his decision was down to the amount of time he had committed to the show.
