James Martin: Saturday Morning chef awkwardly scolded by guest for ‘going hammer and tong'

James Martin, 47, was joined on Saturday Morning by his guest chef Galton Blackiston, 57, and fashion model Jodie Kidd, 40. As the small-screen star was engaged in a conversation with the British model, his attention appeared to slip away from the cooking task at hand. The ITV favourite was scolded by chef Galton in the kitchen for not paying attention to the food he was rustling up. The Norfolk-born chef turned to look at James with a frown, as he exclaimed: “Can you just gently cook that now?”

“Instead of going hammer and tong with it. Nice and gently.”

He was referring to some potatoes which he asked James to gently stir.

A stunned James looked up towards the camera, seemingly taken aback with Galton’s slight abruptness.

The TV regular asked the chef: “Tell me about this sea trout then?”

To which Galton replied: “I’m going to.

“So this is a sea trout, a very seasonal fish if you’re going to get it wild. Quite problematic to get wild sea trout at the moment.”

Jodie could be seen chuckling at the awkward moment between the two chefs, who are good friends.

Meanwhile, James recently caused a Twitter frenzy earlier this week, after he spoke out about Fireman Sam being axed as a mascot for the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service amid claims the character is not inclusive enough.

The Saturday Morning host dismissed the decision as “PC b*****s”.

He took to the micro-blogging site and wrote in view of his 648,000 followers: “Right that’s it, Fireman Sam is the last straw I’m done with this PC b******s and 100 identities being taught.

“In a last stand to this outrageous madness I now wish to be known as an Otter.”

He then called for fans to join him, as he continued: “I like other Otters and when you get bored of this c**p in the world join me under water with other Otters, both male and female, and call enough and an end to this madness.”

James then changed his profile picture to an otter to bring home is point.

Fans were divided on their stance surrounding his tweet, as one person agreed: “Couldn’t agree more. Today I was reading about a gender neutral penguin. Ffs let’s go back to b****y normal.”(sic)

Others did not, as another person commented: “Have you asked yourself why you’re so upset about this?”

James comments about Fireman Sam comes after Piers Morgan, 54, chimed about the debate on Good Morning Britain.

James Martin’s Saturday Morning airs today at 9.25am on ITV.
