James Martin gives insight into successful return to work 'It may mean nothing to some'

James Martin, 47, took to social media last night to document his first week back at work in his restaurant. The TV chef, who is a regular on This Morning and also fronts his own cookery show, did not say which restaurant he had reopened but, The Kitchen at Chewton Glen was back in business this week.

The restrauanter posted a photo on picture-sharing site Instagram and cryptically told his 408,000 followers: “If you know you know.”

The image showed a kitchen ticket machine and a huge pile of orders piling up next to it.

James went on to say: “It may mean nothing to some, this picture it was taken by me just now half way through service but it’s a restaurants life if you know you know… we are back.”(sic)

Instagram users and a few famous faces took to the comments section to congratulate the chef on his successful re-opening.

Television presenter Cherry Healey, who may have been one of the first to walk through the doors of the restaurant, wrote: “I’ve never appreciated being in a cafe/restaurant more.”

While Jodie Kidd, who was a finalist on Celebrity Masterchef and clearly in the know, added: “Yes chef yes xxx.”

TV star Julia Bradbury said: “Amazing,” while Kate Thornton remarked: “A beautiful sight.”

A few people in the restaurant business also shared their thoughts on the matter, with some suggesting the overflowing ticket machine was not always a welcome sight in the kitchen.

“There are times when as chefs, we hate the sound of the ticket machine but right now I am sure it’s music to your ears – welcome back,” wrote one Instagram user.

Another added: “I used to have nightmares about the check machine… spewing out orders and me not being able to collect them, I think the kitchen was filling with paper.”
