James Corden hints Gavin and Stacey fans may find out what happened on fishing trip

The fishing trip was one of the main storylines on Gavin and Stacey, and had fans of the show coming up with a whole host of theories as to what could have happened.

Whenever either Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) or nephew Jason (Robert Wilmort) brought up the infamous fishing trip to one another, the other would try and stop the conversation dead in its tracks.

But co-creator of Gavin and Stacey, James Corden, 41, has dropped some hints that viewers may find out what happened during the fishing trip in an interview alongside fellow creator Ruth Jones on Capital FM.

Capital FM host Rob Howard quizzed James: “Can I ask you, what happened on the fishing trip?”

James responded: “Well, you need to ask yourself whether you really want to know…”

To which Rob fired back: “I do want to know.”

James replied: “Do you really want to know? Genuinely, do you actually want to know? Do you actually? Well there’s a chance it gets discussed on the show.”

As Rob tried to get more information on the fishing trip Ruth Jones, 53, then transformed into her character Nessa.

In character, Ruth said: “Oh, love, listen to what the man’s saying! He said there’s a chance it might get discussed, alright? Now back off!”

The Gavin and Stacey Christmas special will air on Christmas Day at 8.30pm, lasting for an hour.

Christmas Lunch with James Corden & Ruth Jones airs on Capital from 2pm – 4pm on Christmas Day, hosted by Rob Howard
