James Bond: This HUGE actor to replace Daniel Craig? ‘I’d LOVE to do it’

The Thor actor is believed to be concluding his time with Marvel in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, out in cinemas on a wave of hype later this month. Daniel Craig, meanwhile, is believed to be bowing out as James Bond after the as-yet-untitled 25th film in the series – which is currently in production. So could Hemsworth walk straight out of one big franchise and into another? He’s certainly keen.

In a new interview with Balance magazine, he asserted that he’s very interested in the part – but acknowledged that he’s not exactly in a minority.

The 35-year-old said: “When we were shooting Rush someone had said [he could be Bond] and I thought, ‘Cool, if this is my audition tape, then great.’

“I don’t think you’ll ever meet anyone who doesn’t want to have a crack at James Bond. I’d love to do it.”

He added: “But that’s up to so many elements and is way beyond myself; it’s not one you can pitch yourself on to either.

“It’s something that the community of Bond fans, Barbara Broccoli and the whole crew there agree on, and it has to be a very organic decision from them.

“There have been a lot of names thrown out there and a lot of brilliant people can tackle that one.”

Currently Tom Hiddleston – who played Hemsworth’s on-screen brother Loki in the MCU – is the bookies’ favourite to take over from Craig, with Richard Madden, Cillian Murphy and Idris Elba also seemingly unshakeable frontrunners.

But realistically we’re still at least a year away from producers making any kind of decision on Craig’s successor.

Bond 25 is out one year from today; on April 8, 2020, after numerous delays.

And later this week, Craig will officially become the longest-serving actor in the role of the iconic spy.

His day-count will surpass Sir Roger Moore’s 4,526-day tally.

Avengers: Endgame is out on April 25.
