James Bond star Daniel Craig reveals how he coped with midges while filming in Scottish Highlands

James Bond star Daniel Craig has revealed his joy at getting to film in the Scottish Highlands – and how he coped with our notorious midges.

The 53-year-old filmed scenes for new Bond flick No Time To Die over the summer.

The film, the 25th Bond release, features thrilling action scenes, including one which shows a car chase resulting in vehicles flying through the air.

The Cairngorms National Park, where some Bond scenes were filmed.

The incredible stunt was filmed in the Laggan area of Cairngorms National Park, near Aviemore, while a helicopter circled above for even more dramatic footage.

And, speaking to BBC Scotland, Craig spoke of his delight at the project.

He explained: “It’s been incredible. I’ve been so fortunate to have been given this opportunity.

“It still probably hasn’t sunk in – I still get a thrill thinking about it, I still get a thrill going to set every day.

“We filmed in an extraordinary place, (we) didn’t do too much damage, I don’t think – a little bit maybe.

“We got this beautiful estate and it was great.

“There weren’t too many midges, which was good as well.

“They can get anybody. You should know. They are terrible.”

The film, which has its world premiere on September 28, will hit the big screens across the UK on September 30.

The finale of Skyfall was filmed around Glencoe and Glen Etive, back in 2012, and Craig said he “needed to return home”.

He was filmed with Dame Judi Dench, who played character M, in front of the glen and Buachaille Etive Mor, a 3,353ft mountain.
