James Bond: Daniel Craig SPEAKS OUT on directing rumours and if he’s really done with 007

The 51-year-old star is supposedly done with playing James Bond after next year’s No Time To Die. But according to Daily Mail’s 007 source, Barbara Broccoli wants Daniel Craig to direct the next actor to take up the Licence to Kill.

The insider alleged: “He is determined to go out in style.

“He hired Phoebe and he’s been closely involved in every aspect of this film, from the script to the development of the characters.

“Barbara has been vocal in her support of him and would love him to return to direct the next one.

“Daniel is so in tune with the character and has been saying Bond has to grow and change to fit the times.”

But now Craig has shot down rumours he’s being lined up to direct Bond 26.

Speaking with Express.de while promoting Knives Out, the actor said: “For God’s sake, no!

“I want to come home, eat something and then go to bed.

“If you’re a director, then at night you’re still with the producers, screenwriters, and what do I know on the phone.”

Asked if he really was done with playing Bond, Craig added: “Yes! In the future, someone else has to do it!”

But the actor currently doesn’t have anything next on his wish list of future projects.

He said: “I have none.

“I’m in the happy situation, where I’m sent many scripts and am offered quite different roles. My only plan is to work with good and nice people.”

Meanwhile, it turns out that his Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas featuring in No Time To Die was only something of a coincidence.

Craig added: “Yes and no.

“When we were working on the Bond movie, director Cary Fukunaga came up to me and asked, ‘Do you know Ana? I want to have her for our movie’.

“Ana and I had just shot Knives Out and it was obvious that I voted for them.

No Time To Die is released in UK cinemas on April 2, 2020.
