James Arthur is sporting a drastic new look in lockdown these days after shaving his head during a ‘moment of madness’.

While the singer’s not exactly feeling his buzzcut, some good did come out of it as James then decided to donate £5,000 to the NHS amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Say You Won’t Let Go singer is currently in self-isolation at his swanky mansion and, like the rest of us, had been struggling without access to his hair stylist.

So James instead decided to take the matter of his overgrown hair into his own hands, literally, by giving himself what was intended to be a little trim.

However, the pop star got pretty scissor happy as hairdressers tend to do and ended up with a big chop.

Sharing a selfie of his shaven head, James explained: ‘So I was trying to give my self a little trim up in a state of pure cabin fever, it wasn’t going so well so In a moment of sheer madness I decided to do something I’ve never dared to do before and shave my head for the NHS and donate 5k.

‘Is that a bare blade? Yes. Do I have a melon head? Yes? Am I thankful that i don’t have to leave the house for a while? YES!!! Am I so happy that hats were invented? Yes I am. Peace and love folks!’

He added: ‘Thank god for the NHS! THANK YOU SINCERELY TO ALL OF YOU! #nhs ❤️?.’

James’ generosity was met with applause from many of his 1.5 million followers, including an NHS staff member who replied: ‘As an NHS worker I wanna say a big thank you…….and the new do is fabulous!!!!!!!’

‘This is such a lovely thing to do for the NHS, this is why we all love you,’ another follower agreed.

Blown over by his kind gesture, one stated: ‘SUCH A NICE THING TO DO.’

Others hailed James their hero, including one who said: ‘What a bloody ledge you are James ????thank you xx.’

Celebrities are rallying behind the NHS to make donations and volunteer their help as the health service fights on the frontlines to combat the Covid-10 outbreak.

As of Saturday, seven health professionals had died as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, James gave fans a tour of his plush home before the UK went into lockdown, and said: ‘My quarantine/escape plan should this turn into an apocalypse..,’ he wrote in the caption. ‘P.s still humble but proud of the things I’ve earned. Spent 23 years of my life with less than nothing. #f**kthecoronavirus.’
