James Arthur’s team have announced the singer will be cancelling the rest of his European tour dates, after having to undergo surgery following a mystery illness.

James has had to postpone gigs from 22 January after being advised to rest up by doctors, but has now also undergone an operation.

His team told fans to hold onto tickets as the dates will be rearranged, explaining: ‘As a result of James’ recent illness, the remainder of James’ European tour dates gave been postponed, along with Carlisle on 25th Feb.

‘James had to have surgery last night but is now recovering well. He sends his sincere apologies to everyone and a huge thanks to all fans for their kind messages.

‘James hopes he will be on the mend very soon and able to reschedule these shows. Please hold on to your tickets for now as they will be valid for re-scheduled shows.

‘We will advise in due course when these will take place. If you cannot wait and would prefer a full refund then ticket holders are advised to contact their original point of purchase.’

James had cancelled shows in Barcelona and Zurich earlier in the week, telling fans: ‘I’ve become really unwell and doctors have advised I need to rest. I’m really sorry guys’.

The singer was ‘gutted’ not to have been able to perform for his fans, but the Jarmy have rallied around him, sending good wishes for a fast recovery.

It is not currently known what kind of surgery James has undergone, or what the mystery illness has been, but fans are hoping he will be back to full health very soon.

James had shared a photo of him in a hospital gown on his Instagram story, as he kept fans updated, but it’s not clear whether the surgery was in the UK or abroad.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to James’s reps for comment.
