Friends of TOWIE star James Argent have voiced concern over his welfare after he was admitted to hospital on Wednesday amid fears over a drug overdose.

Sources told MailOnline: ‘Friends have been visiting James and they hopefully see this as turning point for him in receiving the correct help’.

Paramedics rushed to his £1.3million home in South Woodford, Essex where they found the embattled TOWIE star, 32, ‘disorientated’.

The scare is a ‘wake-up call’ to James who now ‘accepts he needs professional help’. Friends called emergency services after not hearing from James for 48 hours.

Arg failed to attend his friend’s Umar Kamani’s Pretty Little Thing fashion launch in Dublin on Wednesday, raising alarm bells for those closest to him.

A source told the publication, paramedics found Arg looking ‘disorientated and like he hadn’t eaten in days’ when they arrived at his house and he refused at first to get inside the ambulance.

The insider continued to The Sun: ‘He has been in denial of how bad it’s got and convinced everyone he’s fine but that couldn’t be further from the truth- he’s been suffering with depression and has been in a bad place for years’.

After spending Wednesday night in hospital, Arg has discharged himself and plans to fly to Belfast for a PA with Brian McFadden.

James and Brian have joined forces to tour around the U.K. The pair were last pictured together on stage last week at the Haycox Foundation Gala Dinner in Leeds.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Arg is desperate to be happy and healthy again and now accepts he needs professional help to overcome his demons.’

James’ friends are also encouraging the star to seek help over fears his addiction is spiralling out of control.

MailOnline has contacted James’ representatives for comment.

The latest health scare comes less than two months after reports emerged police ‘broke into’ his home after he reportedly failed to return his on-off girlfriend Gemma Collins’ phone calls.

Medics examined the reality star and his parents reportedly insisted they could look after him.

However, three hours later they are said to have raised the alarm again over ‘further concerns for his welfare’.

In a statement given to The Sun, James insisted he was fine and the reason he did not answer his phone was because he ‘wasn’t speaking to a certain person’.

Arg has battled drink and drug addiction since finding fame on TOWIE. In 2014 he was suspended from the show after he failed a routine drugs test.

In August last year, Arg returned to rehab following a split from Gemma in a bid to tackle his demons.

During a previous appearance on This Morning, James spoke about his weight, saying he believes he replaces substance abuse with food.

He said: ‘I’m proud at myself I’ve been able to do really well career wise in the last nine months, I’ve stayed sober but instead of me going out with mates doing drugs… I’m probably acting out on food.’
