Jameela Jamil has opened up about her struggle with loneliness.

The 33-year-old shared her battle in a candid post on Twitter, after revealing she was teaming up with Bumble BFF as their new ambassador.

Explaining the dating app, and her involvement in the new campaign, the star also reflected on her own experiences when it came to making friends.

She told her 870,000 Twitter followers: ‘Today I’m announcing my ambassador role with Bumble as we champion and celebrate the power of friendship among women today.’

The Good place star then got real, as she added: ‘I feel lonely sometimes. I feel isolated and intimidated by the pressures around me. I feel judged, and I feel insecure.

‘I have done before, and I still do now, and there’s no doubt I will continue to.’

Jameela continued: ‘But it is the friendships that I’ve made through my life challenges, through I Weigh, and through my activism work that has shown me the life-changing affects that new friendships can have.

‘The kindness, compassion and unconditional support that I’ve seen my community offer each other, is something every woman should have access to.’

Talking about the social network, the actress explained how she’s worked alongside the team at Bumble where she found an increasing level of loneliness in today’s generation.

‘I’ve been working with Bumble on commissioned research to really understand the level of loneliness among women of all ages today,’ she explained before adding: ‘And how Bumble BFF can help combat the alarming statistic we found.’

The controversial figure continued: ’84 per cent of Brits find making new friends hard, and nearly half of all Americans admit to feeling left out often. Shockingly Generation Z is the loneliest generation and claims to be in worse health than older generations.

‘It doesn’t need to be like this, we can help each other regardless of age or where we live.’

Jameela then threw her support behind International Friendship Day, which the app is getting involved in with their #askingforafriend campaign.

Here they’re holding the Ultimate BFF Experience in Los Angeles, California, next month and are inviting users based in the UK, US, Canada and Australia to get involved in their competition to win an all expenses paid trip to the LA event.

‘Every woman who has felt left out, every woman who has ever felt lonely. You are not alone,’ Jameela insisted.

‘You may have felt lonely but there is a whole world of women out there waiting to love you. All you have to do is make the first move.’

Louise Troen, VP of Intl Marketing, added: ‘I’m thrilled we have Jameela to front this campaign and help us raise awareness of why products like BFF are so important in the world today. I can’t think of a more empowering or inclusive ambassador.’
