Jameela Jamil has revealed that the cruel taunting over her mental and physical health in recent weeks ‘triggered her to the point of near-death’.

The Good Place actress had been relentlessly trolled and hit with online accusations that she’d been lying about her previous illnesses, causing her to hit back at claims that she’s got Munchausen’s syndrome – a mental disorder in which a person repeatedly and deliberately acts as if they have a physical or mental illness when they are in fact not sick.

Now, almost a week after an online spat with Piers Morgan, which led her to block the Good Morning Britain presenter, Jameela shared a statement to tell her Twitter followers that she’s ‘done with the bullying’.

‘Regarding my modeling past which I keep being bloody asked about. It’s hard to fact check every interview I’ve ever done over 11 years as there were so many and I rarely actually read them when they come out due to fear of seeing myself misquoted,’ Jameela began.

‘But here’s the mish mash once and for all so people/journalists can stop asking. The reason I always denied being a model in early interviews is because a) I never was successful. I just went to castings and did tiny jobs because I could never get my hips to 34 inches and there just wasn’t successful South Asian models in the mainstream media when I was a teen. Then I got hit by a car and it derailed my life/body.

‘It was also often an answer to people thinking I was a model turned tv host. I wasn’t. I was a teacher turned tv host and didn’t like the cliche label that wasn’t my actual story. I did model scout before hosting when I got T4, it had been 6 years since I’d been a struggling model myself.

But I was signed as a teen. I did go to castings. And I did starve myself for success. And it was the worst time of my life. And I was not a good model. So just as well I didn’t pursue it as an adult. So that’s the answer. I’d rather give it here, clearly in my own words than have it mish mashed again interviews.’

Jameela continued: ‘I’ve answered every question about my health. EDS, MCAS, POTS, all of which come together. Mercury poisoning. My clumsiness. Etc. (Which was hurtful and offensive to justify but I can’t stand lies.) I’ve explained that Tracie Morrissey got confused that my two different accounts of a car accident were different because they were two different car accidents. Similar in how they started but with very different endings.

‘Mark Ronson and I cleared up the bee thing, as did the producers in the set that day. So I have no further controversies to answer to and hope we can all move on from a conspiracy theory a privileged white woman I have never met, but who has a very questionable professional history if you google her, including unacceptable statements victim shaming rape survivors… started against me for literally no reason, as I pose no threat to anyone other than the diet/detox industry.’

She added: ‘And we are done. I’m tired of the bullying. The taunting over my mental and physical health. I’m sorry to the people who have munchausen that your health was used as a punchline and slur by people like Piers Morgan and other such powerful people online. I am so sorry to all the people who shared their accounts of not being believed over their chronic health problems and invisible disabilities. I’ve experienced that my whole life and it’s traumatizing and isolating.’

‘Last week triggered me to a point of near death. I have a fragile past with suicide. If you live in pain and have to survive a lot, just to still be here, it’s *agonizing* to have people tell you that you made it up.’

Concluding her statement, Jameela wrote: ‘I would have prefered a happier, pain free, life with more fun and experiences rather than just struggling through month to month. What happened to me was incredibly cruel and scary and it triggered a lot of people who live in the same situation as me. Our lives are hard enough without gaslighting and abuse and I’m glad at least we know we have each other because all that s*** is out in the open.’

Jameela’s lengthy statement comes after her boyfriend James Blake publicly defended and slammed the online abuse aimed at her.

The Limit To Your Love singer penned a lengthy post in which he said it’s ‘sick to watch’ the woman he loves ‘just be dog piled on every day’ following taunts from the likes of Piers and Laurence Fox.
