On a day when speculation over Jadon Sancho’s future was intensifying, the Borussia Dortmund winger brushed off talk of a move to Manchester United.
Sancho has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No. 1 transfer target for the past 18 months and it’s expected that United will finally land their man this summer.
The England international is thought to be receptive to United’s advances and is likely to move on once he’s finished representing his country at Euro 2020.
According to German publication Bild, United have opened the bidding this summer with an offer of £60million – a bid that was swiftly rejected by the Bundesliga side.
They are unwilling to accept a fee below £78m plus add-ons for their star performer, although they have dropped his asking price from last summer’s £108m.
United are expected to return with a second bid but the man himself appeared unfazed when he was quizzed on his future and Manchester United’s interest ahead of England’s opener against Croatia on Sunday.
‘I don’t really look at it,’ Sancho told TalkSport. ‘When I’m during the season I always focus on myself and the team because that’s the most important thing that we can do.
‘When I’m on the pitch, I’m always giving my all and trying to create what I do on the pitch, that’s goals and assists. I try to work hard.’
Asked if he would prefer there to be less noise around his future, he replied: ‘Na, that’s part of the game, you know.
‘A lot of fans are always going to be excited before a major tournament, as a young kid who grew up watching major tournaments I’m excited as well.
‘All the lads should be excited because these tournaments don’t come around often.
‘You have to just take your moment and when you do get your opportunity on the pitch you have to just take it.’
