West is developing the new TV series

Kayne West is set to make his first venture into television with a new show about perception, starring Jaden Smith.

Deadline reports that the ‘ye’ rapper is developing a series with US TV network Showtime. Titled Omniverse, the project will be presented as a limited half-hour anthology series, with Jaden Smith said to star and serve as an executive producer.

Scooter Braun’s entertainment company SB Projects is also attached, along with writer Lee Sung Jin and Westbrook Studios.

According to the publication, season one of Omniverse will see Smith appear as “an alternate reality Kanye West” as the show “examines the many doors of perception”. Its first run is set to delve into the concept of ego.

Writer Lee Sung Jin is currently a co-executive producer on Amazon Prime’s Undone, having also worked on Silicon Valley. James Shin and Scott Manson will be executive producers on Omniverse, along with Miguel Melendez and Jaden Smith via Westbrook Studios.

Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith, has previously appeared in films and TV shows such as The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), The Karate Kid (2010), and Nashville. He released his debut solo album, ‘Syre’, in 2017.

Meanwhile, Kanye West recently debuted a new track as he took his Sunday Service to Coachella 2019. “It’s called ‘Water’,” he revealed to the crowd ahead of the performance.

In other news, 50 Cent has sparked a feud with West after mocking his Yeezy fashion line. Branding the label “shit”, Fiddy compared Kanye’s clothes to those of a homeless person.
