Jacob Rees-Mogg branded 'dinosaur' after his country estate hosts hunt meeting

Angry fox hunting protesters have slammed Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg as an “out-of-touch dinosaur” after his country estate hosted a meet.

The Mendip Farmers Hunt – allegedly filmed chasing a fox with hounds in January – was at Gournay Court, West Harptree, Somerset, on Saturday.

There is no suggestion Mr Rees-Mogg joined the hunt or it was illegal.

But the League Against Cruel Sports said: “This dinosaur is out of touch with a public opposed to fox hunting.”

Mr Rees-Mogg said: “The Mendip Farmers trail hunt in accordance with the law, so are welcome.”

Hunt protesters branded him a “dinosaur”

Hunting with dogs was banned in 2004.

But the MP has said hunting “is the most humane way of controlling the fox population”.
