Jack P Shepherd health: ‘I throw up for 10 hours’ Coronation Street star's condition

Jack P Shepherd, 31, joined the cast of ITV’s Coronation Street back in April 2000 and is well recognised for his talent in acting, having won the 2018 British Soap Award for Best Actor. But earlier this year, fans saw another side to the star when he opened up about a common health condition he often suffers with. Jack has a huge following on social media, with more than 400,00 followers on Twitter and more than 290,000 followers on Instagram. Engaging with his fans in February he revealed he’s never had a cold, but that he suffers with excruciating migraines.

The reveal came about with the actor initially only revealing he’s never had a cold.

In response, a fan teased: “You must’ve been breast fed as a baby…or maybe you still are.”

Jack replied: “Wasn’t breast fed, had milk off the door step. I ate really well as a child, and that builds your immune system, also I played outside, climbed trees, played in mud…maybe that’s why?”

He then went on to reveal he wasn’t completely health problem free.

Jack divulged: “I suffer with migraines and throw up for 10 hours, and ultimately go blind! So I’m not superman.”

Migraines are common and are described by the NHS as being a moderate or severe headache.

The main symptom is usually an intense headache on one side of the head.

“The pain is usually a moderate or severe throbbing sensation that gets worse when you move and prevents you from carrying out normal activities,” the health body explains.

It adds: “In some cases, the pain can occur on both sides of your head an may affect your face or neck.”

As well as a headache, there are three more symptoms commonly associated with a migraine.

These are:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Increased sensitivity to light and sound – which is why many people with a migraine want to rest in a quiet, dark room

Migraines are usually treated with over-the-counter painkillers, but you should always make sure to read the instructions on the packaging and to follow dosage recommendations.

If you experience frequent or severe migraine symptoms which can’t be managed with over-the-counter painkillers you should see your GP.

Another Coronation Street star who’s spoken about their health on social media in the past is Jack’s co-star Tina O’Brien .

Sharing a photo in January this year, she revealed her secret battle with postnatal depression.

As part of the #10YearChallenge on Instagram, the actress shared a photo of her daughter Scarlett, who she shares with ex husband Ryan Thomas
