J Balvin reveals he is ‘just getting better’ from ‘bad’ case of COVID-19… ahead of live MTV VMAs performance
Two-time Grammy nominee J Balvin revealed Thursday that he is ‘just getting better’ from ‘bad’ case of the deadly coronavirus.
The 35-year-old Colombian reggaeton crooner made the announcement while accepting a Premios Juventud award for his Rojo music video.
‘These have been very difficult days, very complicated. Sometimes we won’t think that we’ll get it, but I got it and I got it bad,’ J (born José) said in Spanish on Wednesday in a pre-recorded speech.

‘My message to those that follow me, young fans and people in general is to take care. This isn’t a joke. The virus is real and it’s dangerous.’
As of Thursday, there have reportedly been over 434K confirmed COVID-19 cases in Colombia leading to over 14K deaths.
Balvin recovered at his lavish country home in Llanogrande while emotionally supported by his three canine companions Enzo, Paz, and Felicidad.
The Un Día hitmaker – who survived a 2016 plane crash – has spoken in the past about suffering from anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.

It’s unclear if J’s illness will prevent him from traveling to New York where he’s scheduled to perform his hit Amarillo live on August 30 for the 37th Annual MTV Video Music Awards.
In the Best Latin category, Balvin has a clear advantage of being featured in three of the nominated songs, and he’ll also compete for the Best Collaboration trophy for Black Eyed Peas’ track Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life).
BTS, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Maluma, CNCO, Doja Cat, and Roddy Ricch are also slated to perform at ‘various outdoor locations around New York City’ for the fan-voted ceremony.
