I've tried every blow-dry for curly hair and these are the absolute best in London

Thick, curly, voluminous hair like mine can be a major hassle to maintain. Sometimes you just want a sleek, manageable blow dry, but – even finding the right one can be tricky, trust me. Here’s my rundown of the best curly-hair tamers I’ve tried and tested in the capital.

Jo Hansford, www.johansford.com

This Mayfair institution is probably best known for having some of the best colourists in town, under the impressive and watchful eye of Jo herself; ‘the first lady of colour.’ However, if you have an unapologetically big barnet like mine, this place is a tried-and-tested safe haven. The attention to care is amazing, as is the in-house anti-frizz range, which includes their game-changing serum which smells like fresh grapefruit and- crucially- gives shine to dry, curly hair so often lacking polish. My recommendation? Head to Ansha – who has a specific knack for taming curls without loosing character.

Neville Hair and Beauty, nevillehairandbeauty.net

Based in Belgravia and in the swanky London outpost of the Buglari Hotel spa; Neville is a one-stop shop for hair and beauty. It’s particular good for bigger hair needs- thanks to their ethos of always working around their customer’s specific needs. No awkward BS blow dries here; no leaving with anything less than what you want.

Windle London, www.windlelondon.com

Previously known as Windle & Moodie, the brand has had a face lift; with a new name and a cool new attitude. Although, to be fair, this place probably couldn’t get much cooler if it tried. From the labyrinthine set up of the Covent Garden flagship; with its soothing low-lit basin area and reclining seats; to its impossibly stylish and friendly staff. Their products are stellar; and there is a brilliant selection for curly hair, which is often dry and in need of a great big hair hug. Standouts include the Essential Oils Elixir and the Invisible Day and Night Cream- which should probably be your desert island luxury item if you have frizzy hair. Also: for the queen of curly blow dries, look no further than super stylist Ravi.

Daniel Galvin, www.danielgalvin.com

With outposts across London (the Selfridges one is a fave) this premier salon is packed with talented stylists with a special knack for teasing out curly hair into sleek, blow dry fabulousness. It still remains the only salon that has managed to successfully blow dry my hair without the additional need for straightening irons, and in a style that had serious staying power. With my hair – that is quite an impressive feat.

Gielly Green, www.giellygreen.co.uk

Their London salons are super sleek – none more so perhaps than their newest opening; within the stunning confines of the Four Seasons Ten Trinity Square. They have a great range of products and treatments- all of which are carefully selected to be free of harmful chemicals. Famed for their unparalleled customer service, you are in excellent hands if you have specific needs, like curly hair, at Gielly Green; where there are detailed and in-depth consultations before each appointment. It’s like putting your troubled hair in therapy.
