I've got keratosis pilaris and this drugstore body wash is the only thing that doesn't irritate my skin

My shower philosophy during the week is simple — get in, get out – but the bath products I use aren’t always a no-brainer. My keratosis pilaris means I have to be just as picky about the skin-care products I use on my body as on my face, which is why I feel it’s my civic duty to let everyone know about a new skin-friendly body wash that has made showering recently an absolute delight.

As far as I can remember, I’ve only ever opted for gel body washes, but I was seriously impressed when I tried out Dove’s Body Wash Mousse for this year’s Healthy Beauty Awards. It actually won an award for the Best Body Wash for Dry Skin and I can tell you that the title is well deserved.

I’m often wary of testing out new products (especially heavily fragranced ones) that might irritate or dry out my KP-prone skin, but I’m happy to report that my skin hasn’t felt dry or inflamed once after showering with this mousse. I’ve even used it for shaving because it’s that gentle. Though the product comes in three scents—coconut oil, rose oil, and argan oil—my favorite is the coconut oil, which has a subtle yet pleasant smell.

All three varieties contain moisturizing glycerin, and the coconut and argan oil varieties also contain essential oils, which derms say are especially hydrating.

That’s not to mention the sheer indulgence of showering with this. The mousse goes on with a thick, rich lather as opposed to a more liquid or bubbly gel option. Using it feels like bathing in a frothy dessert, which made me feel almost giddy the first time I tried it. It was like whipped cream!

At first I was uneasy about how quickly we were burning through this stuff (my notoriously hard-to-please boyfriend loves it, and both of us blow through a bottle about once every month), but a little goes a long way. One pump will do it for a full-body wash, though it’s so good you might be encouraged to indulge. And the best part? I know the drugstore price point will never put me over-budget if I need a top-up or two (or three).
