ITV This Morning: 'Poor man' Eamonn Holmes speaks out on Anton Du Beke's Strictly partner

Eamonn Holmes, 59, constantly teases wife Ruth Langsford, 59, about her stint on Strictly Come Dancing after the latter came ninth whilst partnered with professional Anton, 53

Joined on the This Morning sofa by Anton’s partner from last year Susannah, 57, Eamonn made a light-hearted jibe about the pair dancing with the professional after their guest was voted off first.

Anton is set to discover who he will be partnered with for this year’s run of the BBC dance show later this year, with the first three celebrities joining this year’s line-up being announced later today.

In discussing her battle with anxiety and how she has valiantly overcome her fears, Susannah admitted her time on the show was “frightening”.

Ruth admitted she also felt anxious during her time on Strictly and taking a light hearted note to the conversation, Eamonn said neither of them would have been more stressed than Anton.

“The anxiety both of you felt in Strictly surely was nothing compared to what Anton had to go through,” the presenter quipped.

As Ruth and Susannah jokingly agreed, Eamonn remarked: “Feel sorry for that poor man.”

Susannah jumped in and said: “Excuse me, your wife did extremely well,” before Eamonn joked: “He looked at my wife and then he saw you and thought two years in a row.”

The host added light-heartedly: “Neither of you can dance,” to which Susannah told Eamonn: “I would like to see you on the dance floor.”

Eamonn declined the invitation to take part in Strictly, with Ruth chuckling away at her husband’s reaction.

With Anton yet to learn who will be his partner this year, earlier today, Good Morning Britain’s guest Entertainment reporter Iain Lee, 46, seemed to reveal who could be a potential partner for the professional.

Speaking about the announcements which will be made on The One Show tonight, Iain said: “It’s supposed to be Sam Allardyce, Anneka Rice and Jamie Laing.”

Host Ben Shephard, 44, remarked: “So hold on, they’re announcing it later and you’ve already announced it?”

Iain turned to the camera and apologised for dropping the hint, saying: “Sorry One Show. Sorry Alex Jones.”

No official confirmation of the line-up has been revealed, therefore fans of the show will have to tune in to BBC’s The One Show at 7pm for the announcement.
