ITV This Morning: Eamonn Holmes SLAMS Brexit border fears ‘Europe have goods to sell’

Brexit negotiations are continuing to rumble on and it seems people have started to panic-buy products so they have a supply in case the government can’t get a deal.

Theresa May has managed to acquire an extension on the Brexit negotiations which means the official leave-date is now 31 October this year.

The government previously agreed they would not leave the European Union until they had a deal they were all happy with.

However, what if the UK doesn’t acquire a deal? Some believe this means certain imported food, drink and household goods will be in high-demand due to imports being restricted.

As a result, there are some people who are stockpiling items for a Brexit emergency and This Morning caught up with one individual today.

Jen McEnhill explained she has roughly a six-month supply to keep her going, but fears it won’t be enough.

And the whole thing seemed to anger Eamonn Holmes, who seemingly doesn’t see the need for stockpiling.

He raged today: “Europe have goods to sell!

“They’re not going to hold onto their cars.

“They’re gonna sell their pasta and whatever they want to us.”

Eamonn insisted there “won’t” be a shortage once the UK leaves the European Union.

The presenter went on to discuss how scaremongers previously created a shortage of sugar in the 1970s.

Travel expert Simon Calder chipped in: “Entirely fuelled by people that there was going to be a sugar shortage!”

Eamonn added: “Everybody panicked and created a sugar shortage.”

Jen went on to explain how she doesn’t think she has been panicking, adding how she picks stuff up when she sees it.

“I think the other thing to say is I’ve done this over a year, so it’s not as if I’ve been panicking.

“I keep an eye out for things that have a deal on.”

Yesterday, Eamonn Holmes was slammed for his interview with Chris Hemsworth.

The presenter asked the Thor star to show Ruth Langsford “his hammer”.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10.30am.
