ITV This Morning: 'Don't give me excuses' Martin Lewis snaps at Eamonn Holmes over PPI

Martin Lewis, 47, joined presenters Eamonn Holmes, 59, and Ruth Langsford, 59, as the pair finished off their time as regular hosts of the show for the summer this week.

With the deadline for the public to reclaim mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance at one minute to midnight tomorrow, Martin was adamant those who hadn’t yet submitted a form did so.

Having campaigned for people to get back their money, Martin urged viewers who may have taken out a PPI policy to treat today as the real deadline.

Eamonn admitted at the beginning of today’s edition of This Morning he hadn’t yet checked if he could make a claim and at the end of Martin’s segment, the latter hit back at the host for not doing so.

After discussing the PPI deadline, Martin scolded the presenters over excuses for not checking if they’re entitled to a claim, saying: “Don’t give me that, you two were doing this before the ads, normally you tell each other off but it’s me today.

“Don’t give me the excuses ‘Why not?’ This is the deadline, it goes tomorrow. After that, you’ll have to go to court.

“£153,000 one man. The typical claim we get is around £3,000. It’s worth 20 minutes of checking even if you don’t get anything,” Martin urged after giving a hypothetical situation.

Eamonn joked: “I just said to Martin I’m too busy to be working to make money, that’s the way to make money there.”

As the host went to give the phone number viewers would need to be involved in the phone-in later in the programme, Martin interrupted Eamonn.

The Money Saving Expert hit back at the host’s previous remark, telling him: “Even you Eamonn don’t get £153,000 for three hours work,” to which Ruth quipped: “I’ll be asking questions if he is.”

On yesterday’s show, Eamonn’s co-host Ruth was in hysterics as she made some rather cheeky remarks whilst discussing upcoming soap spoilers.

Eamonn and Ruth were joined by soap expert Sharon Marshall, 47, to talk about the latest goings on in the village of Emmerdale.

With a steamy affair taking hold between characters Moira Dingle (played by Natalie J Robb) and Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter), Sharon explained the storyline would take another twist in the coming weeks.

Showing a picture of an intimate moment being shared between a half-naked Nate on top of farm owner Moira, Ruth and Sharon got a case of the giggles.

Sharon told the presenters: “I want to show you this photo of mucky Moira and Nate because it’s stepping up a bit.”

“That’s them in the caravan,” the soap expert said, before Ruth offered her perspective on the image.

“That’s quite a compromising position, isn’t it,” Ruth remarked, with both the host and Sharon bursting into hysterics.

As she tried to compose herself, Sharon quipped: “Well, you could argue she just had something stuck in her throat.”

“He was just trying to suck it out,” Ruth replied, as she and Sharon couldn’t control themselves.

“Let’s move on to the safety of serial killers on Hollyoaks because it’s a much easier one to deal with on daytime TV,” Sharon commented after Eamonn asked her to move on with the segment.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
