'It's embarrassing!' Thomas Markle rips into Meghan and Harry for stepping back as royals

Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, announced the news earlier this month they would be taking a step back as senior members of the royal family, splitting their time between the UK and North America. Joining Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan, 54, and Susanna Reid, 48, the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father Thomas Markle gave his verdict on the decision, stating it was “embarrassing”.

To begin the interview, Morgan asked Mr Markle about his reaction to the “bombshell” development of his daughter leaving Britain and moving to Canada.

In his first breath, the guest said: “As far as what they’ve decided to do to me is embarrassing,” before explaining his thoughts.

He continue: “I think when they got married, they married into royalty and they knew what they were getting themselves into.

“They’ve hurt the Queen, hurt the royals and it just doesn’t work to be going to a different country and serving England.

“It’s not going to work – it’s a little embarrassing for them,” he said.
