It’s been cleared up – Coldplay isn’t playing Glastonbury Festival 2020

Chris Martin revealed that Coldplay will not be playing Glastonbury 2020 and we are devastated.

The 42-year-old broke a lot of fans hearts after admitting the band won’t be appearing on next year’s festival line-up, despite releasing a new album later this month.

Speaking on Australian radio breakfast show Nova 96.6, Chris said: ‘We won’t be playing at Glastonbury 50 – although, I’ll probably be there because I love going – it’s like our home…but we won’t be playing.’

Well, that’s that then. The show’s over, boys.

As Coldplay won’t be playing, Kendrick Lamar has become favourite to headline, followed closely by Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift.

We all know what happens when we get our hopes up based on rumours, don’t we?

When asked about who he would like to see play at Glastonbury, the singer continued: ‘I don’t know. The great thing about Glastonbury is it’s always a bit unpredictable…and that’s a great thing.’

So far, Diana Ross is the only confirmed act of the popular event, but organiser Emily Eavis is trying to make sure Glasto’s line-up will be ‘as close to’ 50/50 gender-balanced as possible.

‘It’s important we go as close to 50-50 as we can,’ Emily told MusicWeek. ‘It’s as important to have females on the bill as much as men but the pool – certainly on the headliner front – is not as big.’

‘So we have to work on that as an industry and nurture all these women coming through.’

Maybe Emily will be the one that can get Frank Ocean to leave his house.

She previously explained how she and her father – who founded the festival – were passionate about improving the gender imbalance on the Pyramid Stage.

‘Every booking Glastonbury make is conscious, we’re trying to address the imbalance,’ she said.

‘We’ve got a way to go, there are areas of the festival that have 50/50 (gender representation) like The Park last year.

‘But The Pyramid obviously isn’t and we’re working on it.’

This past Glastonbury had Stormzy tear up the Pyramid stage, as well as The Killers and The Cure.
