Stephen King fans have flocked to the cinema to see IT Chapter Two since it came out in cinemas. The film follows the Losers Club fighting back against Pennywise the dancing clown, or IT as it is better known. And now the box office totals are rolling in, and needless to say, It is doing rather well.

How much has IT Chapter Two made at the box office?

So far, IT Chapter Two has made $346.4million (£277.8million) worldwide.

Since its release in the USA, the film has made $166.7million (£133.7million) there, while the rest of the world accounts for $179.7million (£144.1million) of the takings.

IT Chapter Two has ranked No 1 in the USA during its opening weekend, and the stats will likely be the same for the UK.

IT, the first film of the pair released in 2017, made more than $700million (£570million) overall, meaning IT Chapter Two has a long way to go to beat it.

The team behind IT Chapter Two seem pretty keen to beat their record, releasing the sequel in a record-breaking 4,570 screens compared to 3,700 for IT.

This will be the most ever for any film in the USA in September, which seems fitting given its huge fan response.

IT Chapter Two has already beaten IT in its opening weekend, with the 2017 film reaching $179million (£145million) worldwide.

Deadline has estimated how IT Chapter Two will beat its predecessor, saying it will likely make $200million (£162millions) at least overall.

What is IT Chapter Two about?

IT Chapter Two sees the Losers Club reunite 37 years later, as adults.

Jessica Chastain and James McCoy play Bev and Bill, the club’s ringleaders, while Bill Hader is Richie ‘Trash Mouth’ and Isaiah Mustafa is Mike.

Andy Bean plays Stanley Uris, James Ransone is Eddie Kaspbrak and Jay Ryan plays Ben Hanscom, who looks very different now compared to his childhood.

The group return after hearing Pennywise, the freakish clown who shape shifts into their darkest fears, has returned to Derry and is ready to kill more children.

They must remember their traumatic past and retrace their memories in Derry to defeat him, but can they do it?
