Iskra Lawrence has defended herself after announcing her pregnancy with a sponsored Instagram post.

The 28-year-old model has announced the happy news that she is expecting her first baby with boyfriend Philip Payne.

The plus-size model confirmed she is four months pregnant with a sweet series of Instagram posts, in which she held up a pregnancy test while tour manager Philip placed a hand protectively on her small bump.

The couple, who have been together for just over a year, looked overjoyed – but some people weren’t impressed with the #ad accompanying caption.

Iskra wrote: ‘It’s not just the two of us anymore, we’re soon to be a family of 3 ❤️ When @Philipapayne ran out and got us six boxes of #ad @firstresponsepregnancy Early Result tests, our lives changed forever.

‘We were so shocked when we saw those two lines and we knew for sure we were having a baby?? Right now we’re 17 weeks and 3 days pregnant! ??

‘And I can’t wait to share with you what these last 4 months have been like. I’ve never been more excited to meet anyone, and Philip and I are in love with our mini baby P bump.’

Iskra continued: ‘I’m well aware of the struggles many women face with infertility and how lucky I am. That is why I’ll be giving away $10,000 to help and support one of you in your pregnancy journey (more deets coming soon).

‘Thank you so much #firstresponsepregnancy for supporting me and all of the work you do to support couples struggling to conceive. It’s something very close to my heart with many of my best friends and family members experiencing these challenges.

‘Can’t believe I’m finally telling the whole damn world our magical news sending you all lots of love xx. #2MeansYes #preggo #pregnancyannouncement #17weeks #pregnant.’

The, er, first response to the post wasn’t exactly positive, with some people annoyed with Iskra announcing her pregnancy witn an ad.

One person commented: ‘You… copped out your pregnancy announcement with an ad placement???’, while another wrote: ‘Did you announce your pregnancy. By doing a advert?’

However, Iskra defended herself as she replied to one follower who wrote: ‘Your pregnancy announcement is literally an ad bye.’

The body positivity campaigner wrote: ‘And did you read why? Because I’m donating the $10,000 to one of you to help with your fertility treatments as I think it’s a great way to help someone whose not as privileged as me.’

Which is rather sweet.

While the model did catch some flak, others were delighted for her and Philip, leaving messages of congratulations on social media.

Iskra is far from the first celeb to mark a baby announcement with a sponsored post.

Audrina Patridge, Tamera Mowry, Kendra Wilkinson and Malika Haqq have all announced their pregnancies with Clearblue sponsored posts.

And let’s not forget Kevin Jonas, whose first child’s birth was live-tweeted by the laundry detergent Dreft.
