One of the more positive aspects of lockdown in the UK was the arrival of PE With Joe, in which fitness guru Joe Wicks aimed to keep the nation’s youngsters exercising in the wake of schools being closed.

The Body Coach’s weekday YouTube workouts kept millions moving in the early days of lockdown and beyond, bringing half hour fitness sessions to his channel from Mondays-Fridays, encouraging fancy dress in lieu of fitness gear on some days and even getting his wife Rosie involved.

But all good things must come to an end – and PE with Joe is about to hang up its trainers for good, after scaling back the weekly workouts in the wake of some students returning to school.

Is today the last one – or can we look forward to more?

Is today the final PE with Joe?

Joe Wicks has confirmed that today will be the final one of his PE With Joe sessions.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain last week he confirmed 22 July would be the final PE with Joe session, saying: ‘Well 18 weeks in, 18 solid weeks with no breaks, and I’ve loved it, and I’ve loved every minute of it.

‘We’ve done 75 million views globally and I spent the day yesterday in my office reading letters. I’ve had piles of letters and parcels and cards from children, and it was the most emotional day I’ve ever had in my life.’

Sorry, this video isn’t available any more.

‘I’ve actually stopped to realise the impact I’ve had on, not just kids, but like 70-year-old people living on their own, and people with autism and disabilities, so I was really emotional,’ Joe continued.

‘I burst into tears and I know that seems intense, but I hadn’t stopped to acknowledge what I’ve actually done.

‘I just think it’s me in my living room with a camera and that’s it. But these wonderful letters and drawings and pictures, it’s really moved me.’

The 34-year-old also confirmed the date in a post to Instagram Stories, saying; ‘The last session will be on Wednesday July 22.

‘I’m heading to the highlands on Scotland for five days with my dad, little bro and some friends on motorbikes,’ he added.
