In the last week, Equinox has announced the opening of the first ever Equinox Hotel in Hudson Yards, New York, and opened the gateway for the first room reservations. Chris Norton, CEO of Equinox Hotels, says that they are ‘uniquely positioned to define an emerging category that is disrupting the entire industry’, as ‘health becomes the new wealth’.
The inaugural Equinox hotel in NYC extends this fitness-based approach to wellness into its accommodation, with health and fitness features of the hotel ‘encompassing world-class service and design with unparalleled fitness offerings’, according to Norton.
Amenities of the luxury hotel include the largest-ever-built 60,000-square foot Equinox Fitness Club, of which guests will become members during their stay. Features include personal training services, a performance-driven spa, a 25-yard indoor salt water pool, hot & cold plunge pools, as well as a SoulCycle and culinary ‘concept’ services from restaurateur Stephen Starr.
The hotel is also offering what it describes as ‘as the ultimate sleep chamber’, with total soundproofing, a total-blackout window system, CocoMat all natural fibre mattresses, and a Scandinavian technique of two separate duvets that enable temperature regulation. Each room comes with a foam roller, yoga mat, blocks and straps, whilst the mini bar contains a juice press and magnesium-based sleep supplements.
Other innovative wellness features include guests having access to in-room, on-demand IV vitamin drips for an extra boost of energy or hydration.
The first hotel is set to open in June 2019 in New York City, with properties in Los Angeles, Santa Clara, CA, Chicago, Seattle and Houston soon to follow.
To celebrate the new booking platform going live, guests who book via the hotel website will be offered a choice of one of the following, free of charge: a one-hour Personal Training session, SoulCycle class, or spa treatment.
