Four BIG reasons you can’t miss Poldark this bank holiday weekend

The show is coming to an end as we wave goodbye to Poldark and Demelza.

Here’s why you can’t miss the big series finale.

1) To find out if Poldark is dead

With just two episodes left, we still have a lot of questions which need answering – one being, is Captain Ross Poldark dead?

Episode six (last week) left fans devastated by the brutal death of Ned, after he was hanged for a crime he didn’t commit.

Then we were left shocked when Ross ended up being attacked and held captive in a cave.

In a sneak peek to Sunday’s episode we see Demelza desperately searching for her husband after she realises he is missing.

We also want to know who attacked Ross? As us Poldark fans know, he has many an enemy (the list is quite long!) so it could be any number of people.

The top suspect of course is his arch nemesis since series one – George Warleggan – but attacking Ross doesn’t seem his style.

The next suspect is corrupt magistrate Joseph Merceron who Ross recently rubbed up the wrong way when he tried to stop Ned from being hanged

2) It’s the last ever series

This is your LAST chance to see any more new episodes of Poldark.

You will of course still be able to binge watch past series, but there will be no new fresh adventures for Ross and Demelza.

Speaking about shooting the last episode Aidan Turner, who plays Poldark, said: “It was the last time I got up on a horse, the last time I put on the tricorn hat and all these kind of things.

“There were poignant moments that you just mark. I think I’ll really miss playing Ross.

“You sort of miss every character in time, but right now it’s just nice to have a sense of completion about it – and nice not to have to get up at 5am every morning!”
Aidan, along with co-star Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays his wife Demelza, both shared sweet snaps of each other on Instagram after filming finished back in February.

3) The incredible cast

Let’s just start with the leading man Aidan Turner who plays Ross Poldark.

The Irish actor, 36, has wowed audiences as the handsome and brooding Ross since the show started in 2015.

He has also had fans swooning by continuing to take his top off to reveal his ripped torso (we will never forget the famous scything scene in series one).

Not only do we have the handsome Aidan leading the cast, we also have the incredible Eleanor Tomlinson who plays the feisty Demelza Poldark.

Meanwhile, who can forget how entertained we have been over the years by Jack Farthing who plays Poldark’s nemesis George Warleggan alongside Luke Norris and Gabriella Wilde as Dwight and Caroline Enys.

The Cornish coastline

Most of the action of the beloved BBC drama takes place against the backdrop of Cornwall’s breathtaking coastline and moors.

From historic mines being used for Ross’s struggling business to sandy beaches used as a backyard for Demelza, filming crew impressed viewers with the landscape in the show.

And many fans say that the scenery is the true star of the show.

The stunning, stone farmhouse used for the house of the Poldark family, Nampara, was filmed in the village of St Breward.

The village, which is on the west side of Bodmin Moor, boasts the highest church in Cornwall and a well, which is said to cure sore eyes.

When is Poldark next on TV?

As we have said there are only TWO more episodes left of season five and the last ever series.

You can catch the first one on Sunday (August 25, 2019) at 9pm.

The series finale will then air on bank holiday Monday also at 9pm.

You can catch up with past episodes from season five now on the iPlayer.

If you have Netflix you can watch seasons one to three.

Unfortunately season four isn’t available.
