ARGOS has shut all of its standalone stores in a bid to halt the spread of coronavirus.
The retailer said that following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement that all non-essential services would close, it would shut all its 700 shops.

Orders placed for collection to these stores have also been cancelled.
If you’d already paid Argos says it will automatically issue a refund, which will appear in your account within seven working days.
Argos has also temporarily removed its installation and recycling services.
It says it will contact those who had an installation booked, but adds that it can still deliver your order and issue a refund for the installation charge.
Can I still shop at Argos?
While Argos standalone stores are closed, Argos concessions within Sainsbury’s supermarkets remain open – you can find your nearest store on the Argos website.
Sainsbury’s has, however, changed its opening times.
Anyone with NHS ID will be able to shop from 7.30am to 8am Monday to Saturday, while every Monday, Wednesday and Friday stores will dedicate 8am to 9am to elderly and disabled customers and carers.
You can also still order products on the Argos website for home delivery or for click and collect in store.

But Argos says it “strongly advised” customers to order items online for home delivery, or to collect while doing essential food shopping at Sainsbury’s, rather than to order when you get to the store.
It said: “We will share more details about how we will continue to serve you as soon as possible. For now, thank you for your support and understanding.”
The returns policy remains unchanged: you still have 30 days to return something if you do not want it or if it is faulty, and you can take your item to any Sainsbury’s concession store.
Under the lockdown rules, the government said a limited number of shops would be able to remain open to stop the spread of the virus.
While grocery and other food stores are included on the list, other retailers, including those selling electronics, toys or household goods, must close.
A number of restaurants announced they would also be shutting their doors, even for takeaway, including Greggs, KFC and Pizza Express.
And the O2 Arena in London also announced it would postpone all March and April events.
