Inter Milan chief breaks silence on Martinez transfer amid Man Utd and Barcelona interest

Martinez has been linked with a number of Europe’s best clubs over recent months.

The 22-year-old has drawn attention after scoring 16 goals in all competitions this season.

United have already reportedly started talks with Inter over signing Martinez in the summer, while City have been scouting the striker for some time now.

But, sporting director Marotta has insisted that Martinez is happy working with Antonio Conte at Inter.

But, the Red Devils refused to meet their asking price, and the transfer appears to have stalled.

Meanwhile, City were interested in signing Martinez as a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero.

However, after UEFA punished City over breaking Financial Fair Play rules, it’s not clear whether City would be able to justify the deal.

Earlier this week, Martinez was linked with a move to Barcelona.

Martinez started his career at Racing Club in Argentina, in 2016.

He was signed by Inter in 2018, in a £21m deal, and was immediately thrown into the first-team.

During his first season in Italy, he scored six Serie A goals in 27 appearances.

But, he’s kicked on this season, and has already doubled the last campaign’s goals tally.
