After a successful performance at the Edinburgh Film Festival, he left Cambridge without finishing his PHD to pursue comedy.

Mohammed first met Schwimmer a few years ago, when he was working on the w pilot Morning is Broken, which unfortunately never made it to series.

He co-wrote the pilot with Gavin and Stacey’s Julia Davis.

Mohammed managed to get Schwimmer on board for Intelligence and the pair star opposite each other, with Schwimmer also serving as executive producer on the series.

He told the press in London, including Express.co.uk: “David really very kindly, enjoyed it [Morning is Broken] add so he called Julia and I up and just asked if, you know, he could sort of come in and help sort of develop the show, suddenly never went series.

“But David and I just gone really, really well. And we enjoyed improvising together and particularly having that sort of different sort of status sort of relationship, which is sort of clear in intelligence as well.

“And then I’d had this idea of writing a workplace sitcom with national security’s as a backdrop, but it’s been sort of focusing on the sort of the mundane and just normal everyday human interactions.”

After Mohammed’s script for intelligence was commissioned by the production company Expectation Entertainment, Schwimmer was involved from the beginning.

Mohammed said:” I wrote up the idea and sent it to David. So David has been involved from the off really, from the incarnation onwards and he is the co-producer as well.”
