Instagram is joining iPhone and Android, which announced it is adding the ‘dark mode feature’ to its smartphone systems.

This feature enables users to switch on the latest versions of the iPhone and Android operating systems that’s colored black and grey.

This feature is said to be much easier on the eyes when a user is browsing their phone at night, but apps have to have their own dark mode feature.

And according to 9to5Google and Android Police, Instagram is testing it among some Android users.

Some users with Android 10 with version 114.0.0.24 may be able to transform their bright Instagram account to a darker display.

The dark mode here uses a mostly pure black interface with white accents for the various buttons and logos.

It also applies to the different pages of the app, Direct Messages, and also IGTV.

Although it transforms the way users will see their Instagram page, the technology is still in beta and has been found to have some issues.

The update appears to blackout the status bar — eliminating the time, battery and various notification icons.

Instagram is just one of many social apps testing dark mode with its users.

WhatsApp announced it was trailing the feature for Android phones in March.

The mode, was spotted in beta testing version of the messenger, gives the screen a black background and turns the text white.

Android users who sign up for the beta version can now test out the feature, which is not yet available in the consumer version of the app.

There is no indication on when the feature will be added for all users of the encrypted messenger.

Well trusted leak site WABetainfo noticed the feature in the latest update to the beta version of the app.

YouTube is also joining the movement and released their version to Android users in July.

If dark mode is currently available on a user’s phone, they’ll be notified when the YouTube app is first opened. In addition, users can also go into the General Settings option and toggle it on or off.

The process to turn dark mode on and off is similar in laptop and desktop devices. Users looking to do so should click their account icon in the top right corner of the screen, click on ‘Dark theme’ and then click the toggle switch either on or off.
