Santa Claus the village has themed lodges, restaurants and attractions for visitors.

And you can even learn about St Nicholas in the Santa Claus museum.

Santa’s Lodge, which is full of nutcrackers and is decorated with Christmas trees throughout, has St Nick’s Restaurant.

Inside, you can try dishes such as Mrs Claus’ Spaghetti and St Nick’s Sirloin.

There are special experiences at Christmas as well.

You could, for example, have dinner with Santa and his elf – the experience includes photo sessions, story telling as well as milk and cookies for the kids before bed.

One challenge for sweet-toothed visitors is the Avalanche – half a gallon of frozen hot chocolate, and guests who drink it all are given a sticker saying “I survived the Avalanche”.

For a festive feel, there are more than 30 different flavours of cocoa to try out.

Want some souvenirs ahead of Christmas? The Santa Claus Christmas store has all the ornaments, which can even be personalised.

Also in Santa Claus is the Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari theme park.

While there is a Christmas themed area, featuring a Christmas tree and a Santa statue, it is also home to two of the longest water slides in the world.

The 1,763ft Mammoth is the longest in the world, according to the Guinness World Records, while their water ride Wildebeest is number two (1,710ft).

The park was even named the number one water park in the world for five years in a row by TripAdvisor.

It also includes free unlimited soft drinks for all guests throughout the park, as well as free sun-cream.

Reviews claim the place is friendly and clean, and many families love it.

But it’s popularity means many are also complaining about crowds and extremely long queues – especially in the summer months.

Thankfully, Santa Claus also has non-festive activities for the scrooges of the family, including a stay at the Lincoln Pines Lakefront Resort, where you can learn all about about Abraham Lincoln; or Santa’s Stables, for pony rides or horseback treks through the forest.

Avid golfers can try out Christmas Lake Gold Course with par 72.

Other weird theme parks can be found in the UK – themed around diggers and even ice cream.

Diggerland is one of the most popular attractions with kids able to play with functioning JCBs.

The oldest theme park in the UK is found on the Isle of Wight, called Blackgang Chine which features pirate, fairy and dinosaur themed areas.
